Annual Release - New Vintages Available

It is time for our much-anticipated annual release, and what a delight both these vintages have been!

Seldom do we get fantastic back-to-back vintages, but 2023 and 2024 were just that. The only downside being that our yields were low and, with the small volumes made, we expect this release will sell quickly. The ripeness and intensity of these wines from 2023 and 2024 is quite exceptional, and our team is immensely proud of both wines.

Our tasting notes follow:

Lake’s Folly 2023 Cabernets            96 / 100

Perfumed nose of floral, violet aromas with mulberry and black olive fruits, and hints of cedar. While still medium-bodied, it is a slightly riper, richer wine, reflective of the great vintage. Fresh black fruits of dark cherry, mulberry and olives, cradled by stylish French oak and showing the typical length and persistence of a great Lake’s Folly Cabernets.

Lake’s Folly 2024 Chardonnay         96 / 100

Clean, lifted pear and tropical fruit nose, with subtle hints of vanilla. The palate is soft and textural with pure pear-driven fruits that, combined with regular stirring of the yeast lees in barrel, creates a silky, seamless mouthfeel. Ripe Chardonnay fruit is generous and with perfectly-balanced but soft acidity, delivering the hallmark length and persistence that Lake’s Folly wines are famous for. 

This year also marks a quarter century of ownership of Lake’s Folly by Peter and Lee Fogarty and their family, and the same milestone for me as winemaker. After 25 consecutive vintages here, I am constantly reminded of the significance of this great site and winery and, in what is an ever-changing industry, the focus, passion, pedigree and consistency from this special place as it continues to produce exclusively single-site estate-grown and made wines, gives our entire team a sense of great pride and accomplishment.
